1. What you need
- A Rushd coach account. Only coaches can connect Zoom. Clients and assistants can't.
- A Zoom account. A paid Zoom plan is recommended, because Zoom ends meetings on its free plan after 40 minutes. How many people can join is set by your Zoom plan.
- A recent version of Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox on a computer.
2. Adding the app
You add the app from your Coach Console in Rushd.
- Sign in to Rushd and open the Coach Console.
- In the sidebar, under Operations, choose Account.
- On the Zoom card, press Connect Zoom.
- Zoom opens. Sign in to the Zoom account you want to use, if you aren't signed in already.
- Read what Rushd asks to access, then press Allow.
- Zoom sends you back to Rushd. The Zoom card now shows the email of your connected Zoom account and its plan.
If your Zoom account is on the free plan, the card tells you that Zoom ends its meetings after 40 minutes.
You can also connect while creating a webinar. If you paste a Zoom link before connecting, Rushd shows a Connect Zoom button under the link.
What Rushd can access
When you connect, you let Rushd:
- Read your Zoom user profile (your Zoom user ID, email, and plan type), so Rushd can show which account is connected and check that a meeting belongs to you.
- Read your meetings. When you save a webinar, Rushd looks up its meeting to confirm it is in your account and to get its passcode. When a client joins, Rushd asks Zoom whether the meeting has started.
- Create, update, and delete meetings for calls held on Zoom.
- Get your host key (ZAK) and a join token, so you can start the meeting as host inside Rushd and your clients can join it.
Rushd doesn't read your recordings, your chat, or your contacts.
3. Using the app
Set up a webinar on Zoom
- In Zoom, create a meeting in the account you connected to Rushd.
- In the meeting's Zoom settings, we recommend you mute participants on entry, stop them unmuting themselves, and turn off their video. This keeps clients watching rather than talking. Rushd joins clients muted, but only your Zoom settings can stop them unmuting.
- Copy the meeting's join link.
- In the Coach Console, open Live Webinars (under Content) and create a webinar, or open one you already have.
- Paste the join link into Stream link. Fill in the title, the start and end times, and who can watch.
- Press Publish, or Save as draft to finish it later.
When you save, Rushd checks that the meeting belongs to your connected Zoom account. If it doesn't, the link is refused. Use a meeting from the account shown on the Zoom card.
Host the webinar
Start the meeting as host in either of these ways:
- In the Zoom app, as you normally would.
- Inside Rushd. Open the webinar in Live Webinars and press Host on Zoom, then Start on Zoom.
Clients can join only once you are in the meeting. Until then, they see a waiting screen that lets them in when you arrive.
To leave or to end the meeting for everyone, use the buttons in Zoom's own toolbar. If you leave by mistake, press Start again to go back in as host.
What your clients see
Clients open the webinar from Live Sessions in their Rushd portal and watch it inside Rushd. They don't need a Zoom account and don't install anything. They join muted. Chat during the webinar is Zoom's own chat.
In the Rushd mobile app, clients open a Zoom webinar in the Zoom app instead.
4. Removing the app
You can remove the app from Rushd or from Zoom. Either one disconnects your Zoom account.
From Rushd
- In the Coach Console, under Operations, choose Account.
- On the Zoom card, press Disconnect Zoom.
Rushd also cancels its access at Zoom for you.
From Zoom
- Sign in to your Zoom account and go to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Choose Manage, then Added Apps, or search for Rushd.
- Next to Rushd, press Remove.
Zoom tells Rushd, and Rushd deletes your connection.
What happens after you remove it
- Rushd deletes the stored Zoom connection: your access tokens and your Zoom user ID, account ID, email, and plan type.
- Clients can no longer watch your Zoom webinars inside Rushd. Webinars you already set up stay in Live Webinars. To run them again, connect Zoom again, or change their stream link to a YouTube link.
- Nothing in your Zoom account is changed or deleted. Your meetings stay in Zoom.
To connect again later, follow Adding the app. If you connect a different Zoom account, use meetings from that account.
5. Your data
Rushd stores your Zoom tokens encrypted, and uses them only to run your webinars and calls. For a webinar, Rushd also stores its meeting number and passcode (encrypted) with the webinar. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
